"Cash Rentals" - Mietwagen ohne Kreditkarte

Im alten AWF gab's gelegentlich Fragen zum es Thema "Autoanmietung ohne Kreditkarte" oder "USA-Reise ohne Kreditkarte". Aus aktuellem Anlass (habe das gerade heute recherieren müssen) kann ich zumindest für Florida das Folgende sagen:

Es ist wider der weit verbreiteten Annahme, ohne Kreditkarte ginge nix, tatsächlich möglich, ohne Kreditkarte ein Auto anzumieten, aber es ist kein Spaß...

Je nach Wohnort muss man bei unterschiedlichen Autovermietern unterschiedliche Belege beibringen. Üblicherweise wird eine DebitCard verlangt, auch wenn "Cash Rental" heißt. Richtiges Bargeld hilft in den seltensten Fällen.

Autovermieter, die hier bei uns (FL) "Cash Rentals" bzw. "DebitCard Rentals" erlauben (ohne Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit) sind:

* EZ Rent-a-Car (www.ezrac.com):
Mitzubringen sind: DebitCard mit mindestens 300 Talern Pfand auf dem Konto und Führerschein (U.S. Residents) sowie Reisepass und Rückflugticket (Touris)

* Budget (www.budget.com)
Mitzubringen sind: DebitCardit mit mindestens 400 Talern Pfand auf dem Konto und der Führerschein (U.S. Residents). Je nach Mietstation müssen außerdem entweder die zwei letzten Utility- oder Telefon-Rechnungen oder ein aktueller Bankauszug vorgelegt werden ODER es wird ein Credit Check vorgenommen (geht also nur bei SSN bzw. existierendem CS). Welche dieser Varianten zum Tragen kommt, bestimmt das jeweilige Mietbüro. Touris müssen statt der Rechnungen ihr Rückflugticket vorlegen.

* Alamo (www.alamo.com)
Mitzubringen sind: DebitCard UND ein Führerschein/Adressnachweis aus einem anderen Bundesstaat! Im eigenen Bundesstaat gibt es keine Cash Rentals. Touris müssen einen Pfand hinterlegen (Höhe abhängig von der Mietdauer) und ihr Rückflugticket vorlegen.

* Enterprise (www.enterprise.com)
Mitzubringen sind: DebitCard, Führerschein und zwei aktuelle Utility-Bills auf den eigenen Namen.

* Rent-a-Wreck (www.rent-a-wreck.com)
Die Bedingungen habe ich nicht erfragt, da zu weit weg. Laut Website sind aber Cash Rentals möglich.

Most U.S. locations also accept bank debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo as credit identification at the time of rental if you are at least 25 years of age. Canada locations do not accept bank debit cards as a form of credit identification. In most cases, U.S. locations will perform a credit check for debit card renters to determine credit worthiness at the time of rental. The renter must meet Avis' minimum criteria in order to rent. If Avis is unable to complete the credit check or if the location does not perform credit checks, the customer must be prepared to present one of the following:

Renting at an Airport location:

• A round trip airline ticket, e-ticket, or travel itinerary to or from the airport of rental, disclosing a return date and showing the renter's name
• A valid passport or current U.S. military identification card. The name must match the name on the renter's driver's license A current vehicle insurance card. The name and address must match the name and address on the renter's driver license; OR a current copy (within the last 60 Days) of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill which shows your name and current address. • OR a valid passport or current U.S. military identification card. Your name must match the name on your driver's license.

Please note that some locations do not accept Debit cards. Currently, debit cards are not acceptable as credit identification at the time of rental at locations in the Metropolitan NY Tri-State area, Hartford, CT, Philadelphia area, Mississippi or Louisiana locations as well as other locations across the country.

Debit Card Policies
Avis reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to seek a Debit Card authorization hold in excess of the estimated rental charges. When using a debit card at Avis, there may be a minimum hold of $500 and a maximum hold of the estimated rental charges will be placed on your account.
Upon returning the vehicle, Avis will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your bank's procedures. The hold may take up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.
If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed, Avis will obtain additional authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges.
Avis is not responsible for any returned checks or over-drafts based on this policy.
This policy applies to both U.S. residents and foreign renters.
Positive identification in addition to your driver's license may be required.

* Hertz (www.hertz.com)
Hertz akzeptiert DebitCard-Anmietungen iin Verbindung mit einem Equifax-Credit-Check:

Question Can I use my Debit Card or Bank Card to reserve a Hertz car?

Answer At most Hertz locations, debit cards (sometimes called check cards) issued under a VISA or Mastercard logo which draw funds directly from the cardholder's account may be used to qualify for rental. However, prepaid or stored value cards which have a VISA or Mastercard logo are not accepted to qualify for rental. Debit cards must have available funds for the estimated amount of the rental charges plus up to $200 to cover any incidental charges in order to secure the rental. Both debit cards and prepaid or stored value cards issued under a VISA or Mastercard logo may be used as a form of payment when you return the vehicle. Please contact your local Hertz Reservations Office if you have a question about whether Hertz will accept a certain card.

Wir haben bisher zweimal allerdings von Deutschland aus vorgebuchte und bereits bezahlte Mietwagen in den USA ohne Kreditkarte gemietet.

Wir mussten allerdings eine Kaution von damals $300 in bar hinterlegen...das war das letzte Mal vor knapp 7 Jahren....kann natürlich sein, dass das auch so nicht mehr so einfach geht.

Da war natürlich schon die vom Veranstalter, bzw. Reisebüro angebotenen Versicherungen bezahlt.
Vielleicht macht das dann einen Unterschied.

Ich glaube, es kommt dann sehr darauf an, ob ein Rückflugticket vorliegt oder nicht. Wer lokal anmieten will hat nach meiner Recherche von gestern größere Schwierigkeiten, mit Bargeld oder DebitCard zu mieten als Touristen aus dem In- und Ausland. Aus welchen Gründen auch immer.
